"Create a blog post in which you discuss social norms and taboos in contemporary (todays) American society."
Social norms and taboos in contemporary American society...Well social norms as we all know are "normal" things to do as a human being.
For those of you who do not know the definition of a "Norm" I will tell you...
NORM (SOCIAL) - The accepted behaviors within a society or group. This sociological and social psychological term has been defined as "the rules that a group uses for appropriate and innappropriate values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviors. These rules may be explicit or implicit. They have also been described as the 'customary rules of behavior that coordinate our interactions with others.'"
Now that you are advanced in your knowledge of Social Norms I will continue with my discussion of said norm.
Since norms are behaviors that must be accepted in society, as a human being it's not normal for someone to just randomly stretch in the middle of a supermarket while wearing an excercise outfit. Such acts as those would be seen as strange and just not normal.
In the month of November my teacher (Mr. Hekeler) of my Business Psychology class had been teaching us about "Social Norms" and what they are. We had to pick a partner and decide on what "Social Norm" we would break.
Breaking social norms is hilarious and super fun! I would definitely break some more social norms just for fun.
Off topic! Anywho, I chose my partner in crime (Yenny) to "destroy our Norm" as we would say to pump ourselves up. The norm we chose to break after constant research on the wonderful Youtube we finally came up with what to do. Yenny and I decided to instead of standing and looking at displays of items in Target we would SIT look at items on shelves or sit infront of the entertainment section and watch the T.V's. At first we didn't get any stares, but eventually we were bold enough to actually sit in the most busy aisle and stare at items. We got alot of stares from the older folks in Target and only one woman was actually rude to me telling me to move out her way. Besides that it was a very fun day.

"Definition of the literary term THEME."
Do Now: "Although many of you have mentioned the work of playwright August Wilson in your first post, I would like all to create a second post in which you include a straightforward definition of the literary term theme and discuss its use in one of his works i.e. The Piano Lesson or Fences.
My definition of the word THEME is a universal idea.
*I know what a theme is, but to thoroughly explain in detail or discuss the "use of his words" using one of the stories provided is difficult when the word theme is involved.
